newZamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) has a new Officer-in-Charge – Medical Center Chief II in the person of Dr. Emilia P. Monicimpo.

 

In a Department of Health (DOH) Personnel Order dated April 8, 2020, Dr. Monicimpo, Director IV of the Center for Health Development Zamboanga Peninsula is designated Concurrent OIC, Medical Center Chief II of ZCMC in view of the retirement of Dr. Nida C. Tan on April 11, 2020.

 A simple turnover ceremony took place on April 12, 2020 at the ZCMC Conference Room which was witnessed by the ZCMC Executive Committee and members of the Incident Management Team.

Dir. Monicimpo hails from San Joaquin, Iloilo. She finished her Doctor of Medicine in Cebu Institute of Medicine and earned her Master in Public Health degree from the University of the Philippines-Manila.

She started her public health service in 1988 when she joined the Rural Health Unit in Tibiao, Antique where she also served as Municipal Heath Officer. From then on she worked with the DOH Regional Office 6 as Medical Specialist IV.  In October 2014 she was promoted as Director III of DOH Regional Office 1 and in April 2016 she became Director IV of DOH Negros Island Region. In September 2017, she formally assumed office as Director IV of DOH Regional Office 9 (now called Center for Health Development Zamboanga Peninsula).
