We would like to inform the Public that currently ZCMC has shortage of oxygen. We are admitting about thirty (30) COVID-19 positive patients every day. Responding to this, ZCMC opened additional wards to accommodate the surge of patients. About a month ago, ZCMC has already prepared for possible oxygen shortage and has renewed contract for 12 000 tanks with an outsourced oxygen supplier within the city. However, the demand has increased due to the current surge of COVID-19 cases and more patients admitted needing high flow oxygen. The contracted supplier will have to refill from another oxygen plant in Cebu City and deliver to ZCMC in staggered basis of 100 tanks with a turnaround time of 1 week. ZCMC has shouldered all expenses for the purchase of oxygen.
We appeal to the Public to strictly observe the minimum health protocols and avoid gathering or going to crowded places. As the only Level 3 Government hospital with specialty care services, ZCMC is now overwhelmed. The continuous increase in COVID-19 patients will further overwhelm the health workers and possibly compromise the services we render.

ZCMC COMMUNITY 'PLANTRY'
October 15, 2021
Around the 2nd quarter of this year, ZCMC embarked on starting its own community 'plantry' (plant-a-tree) on top of the usual community pantry that the hospital participated.
Initiated by the Medical Center Chief, Dr. Afdal Kunting, with the support of the Rotary Club of Zamboanga City West, the 'plantry' program aims to help save the environment by growing more trees. The seedlings grown by the ZCMC Urban Garden Staff are given for free to any employee or clients who are interested to plant a tree in their own lot. This initiative is a small step towards reforestation and hope to lessen the impact of global warming.

ZCMC RECEIVES DONATION FROM ROTARY ANNS CLUB OF ZAMBOANGA CITY WEST

The baskets and trolleys received by ZCMC will be utilized in the designated drop-off area. Patient's needs (food, clothing, etc.) will be received in the drop-off area and placed in the designated baskets for each ward or floor levels. Upon implementation of the new one (1) watcher policy for NON-COVID wards, the patient's relatives or significant others will not be allowed to enter the hospital premises.
The Rotary Anns Club also donated five (5) oxygen tank regulators that are most needed by the patients with severe and critical condition.

In celebration of the National Thyroid Cancer Awareness Week with the theme: Neck Mo, Tsek Mo: ToDOHng Alaga, Iwas sa Thyroid Cancer, the Zamboanga City Medical Center aims not only to raise awareness on Thyroid Cancer but also provide available services to those who are in need.
With this, ZCMC provides FREE Thyroid Screening, Scanning and Panel Testing to our Indigent Patients who were able to register in this activity.
This is a week-long activity from September 20-24, 2021, in coordination with ZCMC Cancer Center, ENT HNS ZCMC, InternalMed Zcmc, SurgeryDepartment Zcmc, and Pathology Zcmc.
