A new 5-bed isolation facility was turned over to Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) by the World Bank Philippine COVID-19 Emergency Response Project on November 4, 2022. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon, Director of the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the DOH. Dr. Afdal Kunting, the Medical Center Chief II of ZCMC, formally received the building for full operation. Also present during the turnover ceremony were Dr. Joshua Brillantes, OIC of ZPCHD 9, Dr. Lenny Joy Johnson-Rivera of CHD DOH Region IX, and representatives from the Long Island builders and construction.
Zamboanga City Medical Center is on its continuous implementation of development programs in expanding infrastructure to address congestion and provide an ideal facility for patients infected with COVID and other communicable infectious diseases. This newly inaugurated isolation building is composed of individual rooms with negative pressure. The facility has complete monitoring devices that will ensure patients' safety while they are separated from other patients.
